This is tomorrow calling. Metropolis is a forward-facing space simulator for the refurbishment of Richard Seifert + Partners’ 242 Marylebone Road by General Projects and AHMM. The pavilion consists of a 12-sided form clad in mirror-finish shingles, cradled by a timber reciprocal frame. Internally is a space for learning and sharing, with a ceiling ever-changing in colour and brightness in accordance with the external conditions. The building is designed to be fully demountable for an as yet unknown future life elsewhere.
