An underused section of the Try & Lilly hat factory converted to creative workspace use and the home of Studio MUTT in Liverpool’s Fabric District. The project injects new uses into the emerging district and is conceived as a testbed for spatial and material ideas for planned future phases along Kempston Street. The south-facing front elevation has been given a full facelift with red and pink sliding windows, scalloped trims and a theatrical canopy over the doorway. Internally the spaces are generous and bright, futureproofed with upgraded insulation, low-energy services and natural ventilation to improve comfort and reduce operational energy.
